My Honey Bunni (which I endearingly call him) goes away for work from time to time. The longest he's gone away for is 2 months, which felt like 2 years. During that time, I was able to go visit him twice. I'll never forget what it felt like to wave goodbye to him as my train pulled out the station and he was left standing on the platform.
This time, he'll only be gone for a few days but its never easy being away from him. So this got me to thinking.. what keeps us going, while he's away?
Times like these, I'm so thankful for these gadgets and apps we use everyday. They make it very easy to communicate in so many ways. We use our iPads and phones to Skype, face-time, or what I like to refer to as a phone date. Bottom-line.. we COMMUNICATE. We make that a priority. Whether its a quick text to say "Hey, I'm thinking about you".. or just a smiley or <3 left on a Facebook wall, we let the other person know we're thinking of them.
We make ourselves available for each other. Our schedules don't always line up so if that means we have to miss a little sleep or turn a lunch break into a phone date, we make it happen.
We make plans for when he comes back. This usually happens before he even leaves. We start to plan out a place we want to go or a new restaurant we want to have dinner at when he returns. Time to reconnect is important, even if your aren't apart for too long. Even though you've been communicating while they're away, there's nothing like have your somebody right next you to catch up with.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder. - Cliche, but true. It makes you appreciate the time you do spend together even more. You also learn the meaning of quality time. Emphasis on quality.
I can't wait until my Honey Bunni comes home. Counting down the hours... For now i'll look forward to our Skype night..
